Gather all your ingredients and make sure the strawberries are washed and completely dry.
In a double boiler, melt the milk chocolate chips and shortening together. Stir occasionally until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Keep the heat gentle.
Insert a toothpick into the top of each strawberry at the stem end. Hold the strawberry by the toothpick and dip it into the melted chocolate. Turn it slightly to coat evenly.
Turn the strawberry upside down and stick the toothpick into a Styrofoam block, or place the dipped strawberry on a sheet of waxed paper. Let the chocolate cool and set completely.
Repeat with the remaining strawberries. Once set, they are ready to serve.
